Buying Your Golf Clubs
Buying
your first set or even your third set of golf clubs from all the
different choices available can be tiresome. There are tons
of different types of golf clubs and accessories from many
different manufacturers all designed to help you become a good
golfer. That being said, what equipment do you buy? What is the
best type of golf club to get?
The right golf equipment can help a good golfer become a better
golfer. Many golfers get a new individual driver or putter to
help their game. However if you are just starting out playing golf
you should avoid buying individual golf clubs until you have
accumulated some playing time under your belt.
Investing both time and money into a hobby or sport you love can
be both rewarding and frustrating. If you are new to the game
of golf hold off buying individual golf clubs. Get yourself a
good inexpensive golf club set and use it for both playing and
practice. Over time as your golfing skill improve, you can then
decide on whether or not to upgrade your golf clubs.
When buying your first set of golf
clubs there are a few things that you should consider.
How Often Do You Play Golf?
Before you run out and buy a good set of golf clubs, determine
how often you plan on playing golf. It takes time and
practice to become a good golfer so you should figure in some
practice time in addition to playing time. The recommended
amount of practice time should be about 2 hours for every 1 hour of
playing time. If you are just going to be playing
occasionally you do not need to get a very expensive set of golf
clubs, an inexpensive set will do the job.
What Brand of Golf Clubs Should I Buy?
At first, if you are not quite sure which brand of golf clubs to
buy then ask your friends with whom you will be playing golf.
Ask them why they like their particular golf clubs. Also, if there
a local golf course or golf store, you can go in and ask them for
their recommendations. Let them know your skill level, how
often you plan to play golf and also your budget. Don't worry
so much about the brand at first. Ask any golfer, their first set
of golf clubs usually has been banged up the most from traveling,
storage and most of all usage. Once you have some good swing
time racked up, you can then decide to upgrade your golf clubs.
Test Drive before Buying
Many golf stores or golf courses will have an area where you can
take a few practice swings with the golf clubs before buying.
This can help you get a feel for the clubs before you decide to buy
them. Once you have an idea on the type of golf clubs to buy,
check around for local golf pro shops, garage sales and online to
help you get some good deals and discounts on your clubs. You
can usually pick up a good starter set of golf clubs for a few
hundred dollars, and often times get a golf bag or some other golf
equipment thrown in to sweeten the deal.
